Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to create bexs_home?
My name is Rebekah (but everyone calls me Bec) and I'm a 24 year old who lives in a flat in Cardiff with my boyfriend. I work as a finance admin during the day but my real passion lies in interiors, social media & fashion. I created my Instagram account, 'bexs_home', in July 2022 and it honestly started as a page to track progress and to see how much the flat would change over time. I then began connecting and speaking to so many lovely people through my account and it became a safe space for me to be creative and to connect with people all over the country. I have always had a love for interiors so it became a passion of mine to create a cosy, calm environment in our home, and to be able to post about it on my account is a bonus.
What are some of your favourite home decor trends at the moment?
I love earthy, cosy vibes so hanging/crawling house plants is definitely a win for me as I feel plants bring calm into any space. I also love the look of rattan and again how it adds natural, earthy tones to a room; rattan arm chairs are to die for in my opinion!
Can you share your favorite DIY home decor projects that you've completed?
We are currently renting our flat so DIY projects are quite restricted, I do however love to up-cycle furniture. We recently up-cycled a worn out old chest of drawers with some sanding & painting and it looks good as new!
Tell us your favorite design hacks for maximizing space in smaller homes or apartments? One of my favourite ways to make the most out of a small space is by putting up shelves. Shelves are super easy to put up and are a good way of having things on show without cluttering your floor. With some cute ornaments and plants a shelf can add so much to a room!
Lastly, what are your plans for the future - both for your home and your Instagram account?
As much as I love living in a flat, finding the perfect house is definitely on the cards in the future. My dream is to renovate a house from top to bottom and create a homely vibe full of plants and cosy materials. For my Instagram account I can't wait to connect with more and more people and to continue posting images that I love!
